Update 6/15/08
Looks like we've wrapped up another year! We've been very busy!
Our chapter attended the REBEL Summit held at Six Flags Great Adventure on May 15th.
We had our end of the year party after school on May 21st.
A few of our members participated in Relay for Life on May 31st through June 1st.
Finally to finish up the year we attended the Rebel Music Video Premiere where we presented a poster created by our members summarizing what we have done this year, the Kick Butts Day Powerpoint created by Travis, and the infamous "Jar of Tar". The event went great!

Update:
Kick Butts Day: Presented to Charter's 7th and 8th grade Health Classes through Black Lung with picture of celebrities who died of cancer and Kick soccer ball. Interested in REBEL 2.In NJ Herald. Good job everyone!
Wellness Week: Members and advisors at table during all three lunches to show students the dangers of tobacco and nicotine. Students then signed Grafiti wall of Independence.
On agenda: Bulliten board, Executive Board for 08-09, Car Wash, End of Year Trip. Lunch meeting May 7th, May 15th State Wide Summit, May 31st Relay For Life.

Next after school meeting: Thursday, 3/20/08: Student Center movie night (ACTIVITY!!)

§ www.scenesmoking.org – Do introduction to movie and tobacco quiz (“Are you smarter than a freshman?”)

Activities/Possibilities:
Ideas for Kick Butts Day (4/2) and Wellness Week- Lunch Table in cafeteria (4/14-18), possibly training at Charter School, recruiting for next year, also possible REBEL 2
§ Charter emailed and given the go-ahead regarding Kick Butts Day: need to run ideas by their administration (they want the presentation!!) Speak with Cohen, not Berstein regarding possible REBEL 2 beginning. Will need permission slips for REBEL member to get out of class and for middle school students to participate. Kick Butts Day Book looked at and events to be planned by all in next meeting!! Possible Tombstone/Body bag activity, powerpoint presentation, cigarette ad collection, black lung tunnel

Hey guys,
Trying to keep you as updated as possible. I will admit Marcia and I were rather disappointed at the lack of showing at the last after school REBEL meeting, since it was called on by the members. We have a ton we need to plan for and will need everyone’s participation to make it work. The Charter school has agreed that they want REBEL to make a presentation for KICK BUTTS DAY which is in 4/2/08. We also have movie night coming up on Thursday, March 20th in which you need to plan some sort of introduction/ mini-training. Finally, Mr. Pollara has agreed to let us do the bulletin board outside of the Student Center since due to the crazy weather we were unable to do our Healthy hearts activity. Doing this bulletin is an easy activity for our REBEL chapter. Remember, we need to do these types of things in order to keep our grant funding.
In order to have the most amount of time for our 3/12 lunch meeting, Marcia and I will provide lunch so you guys don’t waste time on the lunch lines. We really hope to see you all there. Here is the schedule for the month.
